HBCU Alum of the Month: Larry Goodin



Larry life’s work is three-fold. A millennial who has dedicated his life to advancing HUMANS through experiential learning workshops and empowering underserved at-risk and high-risk young people through mentoring, co-active coaching, resilient storytelling, cultural awareness and sensitivity trainings. As a seasoned professional, Larry combines his expertise in Leadership Development, Performance Assessment, Mentoring and Academia Research to inspire and equip young people struggling with identity issues, limiting beliefs and social personal development. Currently Mr. Goodin is employed with Fairleigh Dickinson University in the Office of University Advancement. After completing the Fairleigh Dickinson University Executive Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Program, Sr. Vice President Rick Reiss granted Larry an opportunity to join the Advancement Team. Mr. Goodin also serves as a part-time Adjunct Professor within the CORE Department. He was recently appointed to serve as the 2017 Ted Ed Club Coach at Erasmus Academy for College Prep. And Career Exploration. In this role Larry will support 20 at-risk and high-risk teenagers with accepting and sharing the resilience of their life stories live on stage during their 10 minute Ted Talks platform.

Whether it’s raising funds to build a Water Purification System in Dominican Republic, building computer technology labs in Port Au Prince Haiti, mentoring young teenagers incarcerated in Juvenile Detention Prisons, speaking at middle / high school graduations; Larry relentlessly pursue one goals which is to empower human beings to be a stand for the world while optimizing the various resources and tools surrounding them.

Mr. Goodin strongly believes we are the cumulative investment of our educators and college experiences. He is a 2005 graduate of a Historically Black College, Alcorn State University. Larry decided to attend an HBCU because it wanted the authentic African American College experience. He stated that Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity captured his soul the moment he experienced his first HBCU homecoming step show.
